additional information: In Carol Mulder’s 1991 article on roaning in Arabians in The Crabbet Influence in Arabians Today magazine she said, “She was foaled roan; I saw her within hours of her birth. Her basic color was chestnut. She had a solid colored head and solid colored legs below her forearms and gaskins. Her coat was milky roan from her poll to her tail and through her forearms and gaskins, but she had a distinct brindle pattern of chestnut running vertically through her entire coat. She had a white dock to her tail, but only a few white hairs on her mane. She was unfortunately born during the dark time in American Arabian horse history when too many people, uneducated in the history of Arabian horses, foolishly and destructively caused severe discrimination against certain colors and markings historically long a part of the Arabian breed. It was because of this that she was irresponsibly sold without her papers.”
