Romero was born at Bluebell Arabians, NL and sired by Plakat. Plakat was bred by Tersk stud and exported to the Netherlands as a four years old in 1974. Plakat won many National Championships in halter and was awarded European, World and Nations Cup Champion Stallion.
While Romero's sire was Straight Russian, his dam Nejadie had a Straight Egyptian sire. She traces to the Polish family of Szweykowska.
Romero passed his stallion licensing in Austria in 1989. In 1998, he was shown at the European Championships while on lease to Norway. He became third in his class behind by Padrons Kadar and Anthal.
Romero was retired in Hungary where he died in 2018 at the age of 34.
