additional information: Gadir was chief sire at Abbasiya, Cairo, Egypt - the stud of Abbas Pasha. He was bought at the auction of 1861 by Baron von Hügel for the Royal Stud of Weil. He was imported to Weil Stud, Württemberg, in 1861 and served as chief sire there until his death in 1866. He left a number of broodmares for the stud.
