Comet was born at the Polish Nowy Dwor stud in 1953. His sire was the bay Abu Afas who was exported to East Germany. Comet's dam was the Trypolis daughter Carmen that survived the Word World II and became a valuable broodmare in Poland.
After participating in racings as youngster, Comet became chief sire at Nowy Dwor before he was transferred to Janow Podlaski in 1960 when the stud was closed. Although he sired exceptional foals, most of his gets were sold abroad, mostly exported to the United States. His most influential son Pohaniec, however, was standing in Sweden producing Probat, sire of World Champions Piruet and Fawor.
Comet died in 1964 at the age of 11.
