Bad Afas
Bad Afas was a bay Arabian stallion foaled in 1940, played a pivotal role in Polish Arabian horse breeding. Sired by Kuhailan Afas, a 1930 bay stallion imported from Bahrain to Poland, Bad Afas inherited the esteemed Kuhailan lineage, known for its endurance and refinement.
His dam was Bad, a bay mare foaled in 1929 and bred by Mr. Denys-Rey in France. As a yearling, she was exported to Poland, where she produced three fillies by Caid, in addition to Bad Afas. Among these fillies, only Eleonora continued the lineage. Eleonora became the dam of notable sires such as El Trypoli, Emir Said, and Exelsjor. Both El Trypoli and Emir Said were used for breeding in Sweden, while Exelsjor was later exported to the United States.
Among Bad Afas' notable progeny is Abu Afas, a 1947 bay stallion who became a significant sire in Poland. Abu Afas sired Comet, a 1953 gray stallion celebrated as one of the most beautiful Arabians bred in post-war Poland. Comet's offspring were renowned for their beauty and racing prowess, solidifying Bad Afas's enduring influence on Arabian horse breeding. Later Abu Afas was brought to GDR where he was used as sire at the Zoo of Rostock until his death in 1974.
Bad Afas's daughter the grey Naganka was exported in 1961 to the United States where she became foundation mare of Sheila Varian's Arabian horse farm. She was dam of Bay El Bey a hughely influential US sire.
Bad Afas' last foal crop was registered in 1952. His exact date of death is not known.
