AV Montoya comes out of a show horse family. His sire WH Justice was multiple reserve champion and is sire of champions. Montoya's paternal grandsire Magnum Psyche is a multiple US National Champion. The dam of Montoya - Metalica - is by Balaton, also a halter show winner. AV Montoya himself became British Junior Male Champion in 2006.
