Dschadaah
Dschadaah
German Elite mare Dschadaah, foaled in 1973 at the Marbach State Stud, occupies a singular place in the history of German Arabian breeding. She is recorded as the only mare bred at Marbach to have won the World Championship title, achieving this distinction in 1986. This result placed her among the most significant representatives of the stud’s post-war breeding program and established her as an international ambassador for the Marbach Arabian.
Dschadaah was a mare of distinctly classical Arabian type. Her head was dry and refined, marked by a large, expressive eye that conveyed both alertness and presence. The neck was well shaped and carried high, rising cleanly from the shoulder and contributing to an overall impression of elegance and balance. Her body showed harmonious proportions, with a deep girth and a strong, well-defined topline that suggested both capacity and structural integrity. The limbs appeared correct, with clean joints and a sound foundation, completing a picture of overall balance and functional conformation. Taken together, these characteristics reflected the influence of her sire Hadban Enzahi, the Egyptian-bred stallion imported to Marbach in 1955.
A son of Nazeer out of Kamla, Hadban Enzahi is recorded as a foundational sire in the reconstruction of the Marbach Arabian program. His offspring formed a large proportion of the broodmare population, and his influence shaped the type, balance, and expression associated with Marbach Arabians in the second half of the 20th century.
The dam of Dschadaah, Hamdi, was a daughter by Halef who presented one of the important stallions used at Marbach prior to the large-scale introduction of Egyptian bloodlines. Through Halef, Hamdi connects to earlier Polish and Weil-Marbach breeding influences. The cross between Hadban Enzahi and daughters of Halef proved successful and was therefore used repeatedly within the stud.
Hamdi’s dam, Jadine, was a daughter of Jasir, a Straight Egyptian stallion imported to Weil in 1930. After the dispersal of the Weil stud, Jasir was transferred to Marbach, where he sired several important mares, including Jacaranda, Jatta, Isabella, Jemen, and Jadine.
Through Hamdi, Dschadaah belongs to a maternal line maintained within the Marbach State Stud over multiple generations. These mare families trace back to the historic Weil-Marbach breeding program and ultimately to foundation mares such as Murana I.
Her importance was not limited to the show ring; she also proved to be a valuable broodmare. Dschadaah is recorded as the dam of Dschihan, through whom her line was continued. From this branch emerged the stallion Dschehim by Pamir I (1996), who served for many years as a state stallion and chief sire at Marbach, as well as the mare and full-sister to Dschehim, Dukna, who became an established broodmare within the program.
Through Dukna, the line extended into more recent generations, notably through her daughters Dahi, an elite broodmare, and Dafina, a premium mare. Dahi, in turn, is recorded as the dam of the licensed stallion and Marbach's chief sire WM Devdas, used in sport horse breeding, and the young stallion WM Daraschad who will standing at Marbach as a future chief sire .
In this way, a continuous line can be traced from Dschadaah into present-day breeding, combining classical Arabian type with a clear orientation toward performance.
