Sharahm
Sharahm
When the Polish-bred mare Sorella was awarded the prestigious WAHO Trophy, the distinction honored more than a single horse. It recognized the strength of a historic maternal lineage and the lasting contribution of a broodmare whose offspring would go on to represent her family with distinction. Sorella had already proven her own quality in the show ring as Swedish National Bronze Champion Mare in 2011, yet her greatest influence would come through the next generation—most notably through her son Sharahm by Gharam.
Today Sharahm stands as a stallion whose pedigree, show record, and progeny unite the qualities that breeders seek in the modern Arabian horse: beauty, athletic ability, and depth of heritage.
Sharahm’s quality became evident early in his career. As a yearling he captured the title of Swedish National Gold Champion Colt in 2011, immediately marking him as one of the most promising young stallions of his generation.
As he matured, he continued to confirm that early promise on the international stage. His most important show achievements include Gold Senior Champion Stallion at Orientalica in 2012, Swedish National Gold Champion Stallion in 2014, and Bronze Senior Champion Stallion at the Tulip Cup in 2015. These titles reflected a stallion admired for his expressive Arabian type, elegant neck, and harmonious conformation—qualities that would later become recognizable in his offspring as well.
Sharahm’s sire Gharam represents a pedigree rich in internationally influential bloodlines. Gharam is a son by Ffatal Attraction. Through his sire Sanadik El Shaklan, Ffatal Attraction traces to the legendary El Shaklan, whose descendants have shaped modern Arabian breeding with their refined heads, large expressive eyes, and unmistakable Arabian presence.
Through his dam Gemini, Gharam’s pedigree adds depth through classical Polish bloodlines. Gemini was a daughter of the stallion Algorytm. Algorytm was sired by Algomej, a bay stallion bred in 1973 in Poland by Celebes out of Algonkina. Algomej became an influential representative of Polish breeding and was appreciated for his powerful movement, strong Kuhailan type, and athletic ability.
This background creates an interesting connection within Sharahm’s pedigree. While his sire line carries the refinement and international influence of the El Shaklan dynasty, the presence of Gemini and her Polish ancestry also anchors the pedigree in the traditions of Polish breeding that later became established in Scandinavia.
On the dam side, this Polish influence continues. Through his dam Sorella, Sharahm descends from one of the historic Polish damlines tracing to the mare Milordka, a family long valued within the Polish state stud system for producing reliable broodmares and quality horses.
An important representative of this lineage was the mare Sake, bred at Janów Podlaski State Stud in Poland. Imported to Sweden in 1962 by Dr. Aaby-Eriksson, she became one of the Polish foundation mares that helped establish this distinguished family within Scandinavian breeding. Later exported to the United States in 1974, Sake represents another example of the international influence of Polish Arabian horses.
Within this same lineage appears Jaga II, the dam of the stallion Wind (Wyrwidab), who stood at Marbach State Stud in Germany after the Second World War. Wind became particularly influential through his daughters Winette and Winarsad, the latter continuing the line successfully within the Marbach herd.
Sorella has herself proven a worthy representative of this lineage. Elegant and feminine, she combines show-ring quality with the genetic strength of her family and is an excellent broodmare. She is by the Pure Polish stallion Wadim (Grandorr x Warszula), bred at Michalów State Stud in Poland. Wadim enjoyed a highly successful international show career and was admired for his type, presence, and elegant movement. His achievements include Swedish National Champion Stallion in 1997, Champion Stallion at Vilhelmsborg in 1998, European Reserve Champion Stallion in Moorsele in 1998, and Nations Cup Reserve Champion Stallion in Aachen the same year. In 2000 he added another title as Champion Stallion at Towerlands, confirming his reputation as one of the most successful Pure Polish halter stallions shown in Europe.
Wadim’s sire Grandorr, a son of the legendary Naborr, was bred at Lasma Arabians in the United States before being imported to Poland in 1990. On the maternal side, Wadim’s dam Warszula, by Palas, distinguished herself as Polish National Reserve Champion Mare in 1989.
Sorella’s dam Szansa was sired by Rusaczie, who gained international recognition as World Reserve Champion Stallion at the Salon du Cheval in 1978 and later Swedish National Champion Stallion. Rusaczie himself traced to the influential Polish sire Wielki Szlem, whose descendants have left a lasting mark on Arabian breedi
In addition to Sharahm, Sorella produced Shahzad (by Kormant), another stallion who has drawn attention for his excellent riding qualities. Shahzad was acquired by Savona Stud in Germany, where he impressed with his athletic ability and balanced conformation. His quality convinced the historic Marbach State Stud to include him in its breeding program beginning in 2026.
As a breeding stallion, Sharahm has proven to be a consistent sire whose offspring inherit both Arabian type and athletic ability. His progeny are known for expressive heads, elegant necks, and balanced conformation combined with movement and temperament suitable for riding horses.
The consistency of his production has attracted international attention. In recognition of his breeding value, the renowned Janów Podlaski State Stud in Poland acquired a breeding package of Sharahm in 2026, underscoring the stallion’s significance within modern Arabian breeding.
Among his notable offspring is Crowns Shali (2017, out of Calisya), bred in Denmark. The grey stallion demonstrated his quality early, becoming Danish National Bronze Champion Colt in 2019 and Danish National Silver Champion Colt in 2020.
His daughters also contribute to the continuation of the line. Psyrella (2013, out of JB Psynderella) has been appreciated for her refinement and correctness, while Shirin JJ (2016, out of SF Shaklina) combines Sharahm’s elegance with additional El Shaklan heritage through her damline.
Through the refinement of the El Shaklan dynasty, the strength of Polish breeding, and the proven maternal legacy of Sorella’s family, Sharahm represents a stallion whose pedigree bridges tradition and modern breeding goals.
His own show success, together with the achievements of his siblings and offspring, illustrates the enduring value of this heritage—Arabian horses that unite beauty, nobility, and the athletic ability required for today’s versatile Arabian horse.
